Top Ten Winter 2020 bugbears

Does the arrival of 2020 symbolise a new dawn, or the end of the festive season and a time when winter really takes hold? The first two months of any new year is the time when winter can really become irksome. Of course, the weather is one element, but there are other grievances we Brits have about this time of year. Take a look below to see our full list.

De-icing the car

Frost and ice means you have to scrape it off cars and other vehicles. This can be annoying if you have to get out of bed earlier to do it.

Terrible weather

The evenings are pitch black and the temperature is freezing. Plus the constant rain and fog is enough to bug anybody.

Dangerous pavements

If the paths aren’t slick with ice, they’re slippery with wet fallen leaves, making walking difficult and hazardous.

Broken boilers

Why does the boiler always seem to break when we need it most? If you’re looking for a boiler service Cheltenham has some excellent providers. With a timely boiler service Cheltenham residents should be safe all winter long.

Strong winds

Gale force winds are very common at this time of year, and very inconvenient if they knock trees or power lines down.

Forgetting things

It’s so frustrating to forget your coat or other accessories needed to keep warm during this time of year.

Slush and snow

The first day of snowfall is lovely. But then it becomes old very quickly, especially when the black slush sets in.

Frozen garden

It’s impossible to cut the lawn or get any sort of planting done in the garden during winter. If it’s been really cold, any bulbs planted at the end of last year could have been killed as well.

Chapped lips

Being outside a lot in cold conditions dries out your skin. Chapped lips and cracked knuckles are a common sight, and bugbear, in winter.

Problems with grit

It seems to happen every year – the council runs out of grit or there’s an area they missed. This leads to your car sliding all over the road, even before you’ve left your street. It’s inevitable for this to happen, and it’s incredibly irksome.
