Can Brain Training Improve Your Cognitive Ability?

Our brains are like city maps. When we are born, our brain is rather smooth – just a few wrinkles. As we get older and learn more about the world, our brain starts to build roads, highways, and synaptic structures. Most of the brain’s infrastructure and cognitive abilities rely upon our power to memorize and absorb information. We know that a candle flame is hot – not because it is orange, but because we may have put our hand on the flame and felt the heat or maybe even a burn. Some of our cognitive abilities are more unique and personalized, based on the way we were raised – the things our parents taught us, the things we saw outside the car window and the way our teachers explained how the world works. So, can brain training improve your cognitive ability?

The short answer is that yes it can. However, it is important to know how brain training actually improves the functionality of our minds and sharpens our mental acuity. Each time you flex your brain to remember more and to absorb more information – or to solve more complex equations – you are increasing your brain’s ability. Researchers note that there is something called crystallized intelligence – this is intelligence that is learned. Studies show that brain training tips and exercises can improve this type of knowledge.

This knowledge is especially important in scholastic settings, but it can also be hugely beneficial in the workforce. Brain training exercises can not only improve your ability to memorize more information but also compute it. What is the purpose of memorizing information if you can’t use it to make concrete decisions? The sharper you make your cognitive abilities, the sharper your decision-making skills will be, which can help you succeed in school and in the workforce. There is nothing quite like getting a 4.0-grade point average or a promotion at work.

Studies also show that the cognitive skills built by brain training exercises can also improve your mental acuity and functionality as a senior. As you get old, some of your cognitive abilities lessen, but if you take measures to strengthen your brain and your memorization skills, you can vastly improve your capacities. This can make you more independent, it can save you money on medical expenses and long-term care and it can reduce your burden on people that may have a responsibility to take care of you, like your children or spouse.

So, can brain training improve your cognitive ability? – Absolutely and without a doubt. People of all ages should be regularly engaging in brain training exercises. Just like building your muscles is important, you also want to boost the strength of your brain. Being able to synthesize information more acutely will be beneficial in almost every facet of your life. Considering this, you may want to explore some of the brain training exercises provided by LearningRX, which will help children and adults read better and absorb more information. In the end, even though we can’t see our brain, it is imperative to realize how important taking care of it is – the quality of our lives depends on it.

Different Types of Commercial Truck Insurance

When it comes to commercial truck insurance, you have a lot of options. If you are an independent truck driver or if you are the owner of a trucking fleet, it is important to have a solid coverage plan. However, it is the type of coverage you get that will determine how solid your plan is. The last thing you want is to go with a policy that doesn’t offer the best coverage – because you can wind up losing money or you could be held liable in the event of a major collision. Plus, if you are hauling important merchandise in your trunk, you may want to have those items covered too. Here are some different types of commercial truck insurance.

New Allen’s Lollies: The Funfair Thrills Jelly Beans

Allen’s has launched a whole new range of jelly beans by the name of Funfair Thrills with new flavors; the latest addition to Allen’s lollies to the delight of lolly lovers of all ages.

New Flavours

Inspiring a funfair theme, there are nine new flavors introduced in the Funfair thrill range. Some of the flavors fit right into the carnival theme while some flavors struggle to deliver the same level of delicacy.  Following are the details of each new jelly bean flavors:

1. Cool Candy BananaNew Allen’s Lollies

One of the best flavors in the range, cool candy banana arrives as a yellow colored jelly bean that hits all the right chords as a banana lolly should. Although not as sweet as a lolly banana is supposed to be, it sports quite a bold and strong flavor that sets your taste buds a-tingling.

2. Bubblegum Bang

This flavor strayed away from its name and holds no distinctive flavors of the traditional bubblegum as one would expect. Instead, it is a purple-colored jelly bean that gives off a strong flavor with prominent notes of grapes.

3. Toffee Apple

This flavor hits all the right notes of apple flavors with prominent apple juice and apple tart flavors. Arriving in red color, a toffee apple is so delicious, that you can easily finish off a whole bag of these beans if it ever came.

4. Buttered Popcorn

One more flavor that follows its named theme accurately, this jelly bean is inspired by those bags of popcorns served at the movies. They come as white colored jelly beans, and upon popping them into your mouth, you are immediately greeted by a surprisingly salty flavor, which is followed by strong notes of burnt sugar. With a buttery scent, they are definitely a treat for all popcorn lovers.

5. Fairy Floss

Easiest of the bunch to be recognized, this jelly bean arrives in a light pink color and is as sugary as fairy floss is supposed to be.

6. Fizzy Cola

The color of this bean is quite unexpected with a greyish-brown tinge instead of the common dark brown color of cola-flavored lollies. Its flavor resembled the cola-flavored Chupa Chups, yet there is something missing from this jelly bean. It starts off with the same tartness as a fresh can of coke, yet it quickly becomes this sweet flavor, like that of a stale flat soft drink.

7. Chocolate Milkshake

We would have to call it the least flavourful of the entire collection, as all it reminds you of is a completely watery hot chocolate. Colored dark brown, this jelly bean fails to reach the same level of delicacy as the other flavors introduced.

8. Tutti Frutti

It is definitely not the tutti fruity flavor that anyone would expect, as this orange-colored jelly bean comes off with all the citrus notes and a very bold taste.

9. Zesty Lemonade

Zesty lemonade comes off as quite refreshing and pleasing pale yellow colored jelly bean with just the right amount of tartness and sugar. It is however more distinct along the lines of lemon tea than the traditional lemonade flavor.

Packaging

Although the characters on the bags of Allen’s jelly beans previously used to be a little creepy sporting a one-toothed and one-eyed jelly beans, the packaging of these blue lollies is a lot better with a cute jelly bean wearing a top hat, inviting the lolly lovers to try out a whole new circus/funfair themed range of flavours.

7 Funeral Directors in Melbourne

This may sound like an unusual suggestion but many a funeral director will endorse it. Probably the best time to arrange a funeral is when you don’t need it. Naturally, at the time, the family members who are left behind are suffering great emotional stress as they grieve.

A Brief History of MOT

We all know that to stay legal on the road, we need to take our vehicle to an annual MOT test. Have you ever wondered when the test was first started and what were the reasons? Here is a brief history of MOT:

First introduced in 1960, the MOT was the brainchild of then Minister of Transport, Ernest Marples. As you can imagine, the roads are much less densely populated than now! This test was brought under the rule of the Road Traffic Act of 1956.

Originally, it was a very basic test designed to check only the brakes, steering and lights for all vehicles over ten years old and then every year thereafter. It was first known as a ‘ten-year test’ or the ‘Ministry of Transport test’. For information about your MOT Gloucester, visit a site like http://swiftfit.uk.com/

Tests were soon brought in for all vehicles over seven years old at the end of 1961 because the failure rate was so high. The following year, commercial inspection began in which vehicles had to pass and get a certificate in order to receive a tax disc. In the spring of 1967, the age of the vehicle was reduced further to all those over three years old. In 1983, the MOT for ambulances, taxis and vehicles with more than eight passenger seats were also introduced.

What started in 1960 as a very basic examination of three things immediately began to expand year by year. By 1968, a tyre check was introduced, followed by the windscreen wipers and washers, indicators, brake lights, exhaust and horns in 1977. In 1991 that list is increased further by the addition of test gas emissions, rear wheel bearings and steering, anti-lock braking system and rear seat belts.

It is important to give employees time off if they have gone through family troubles – make sure to talk to them, and really show that you care about their situation. If you sense that an employee is going through troubles, make sure to bring this up in private, and really listen to what they have to say. If an employee becomes ill, it is vital to give them time off; they might want to be loyal to you and their job, but it’s important for them to get back to good health.
